AIRAID (510-340): MXP Cold Air Intake for Toyota Tundra and Sequoia

Like all gas-powered engines, your Toyota V8 makes power by burning a mixture of gasoline and oxygen. Oxygen acts as a catalyst for the detonation, so the number of oxygen molecules in the air charge will directly affect performance. Unfortunately, the OE Toyota Tundra and Sequoia intake systems share many of the same inefficiencies. For example, the intake tube has a tapered shape, with irregular, corrugated inner surfaces. And the air box lets in only a small amount of air, then forces it through a thick paper air filter. All of this causes the air to become turbulent, elevating the temperature and lowering the oxygen content.

AIRAID’s 510-340 MXP high-performance intake system is designed to increase cooler engine airflow, so it can make more horsepower and torque without engine modification. The end result of introducing a higher volume of colder air? An estimated increase of 9 HP and 10 ft.-lb. of torque.

Features

  • For some models of Toyota Tundra and Sequoia.
  • Increases horsepower and torque by 9 HP and 10 ft.-lb., respectively.
  • Replaces stock air box, air filter, and intake tubing.
  • Rotational-molded air box keeps intake air isolated from engine heat.
  • Easy to install using common hand tools.

AIRAID (302-236): MXP Air Intake System for Ram 1500/2500/3500

The ultimate AIRAID cold air induction system, the MXP delivers higher levels of horsepower and acceleration gains for specific Ram 1500, 2500, and 3500 pickups—starting with a one-piece, roto-molded air box that addresses all the shortcomings of the restrictive factory box.

Inside the 302-236 is a premium AIRAID air filter, which then directs the air flow through a cross-linked, high-density polyethylene intake tube precision designed using extensive computer modeling. Fresh air ducting further promotes flow along with provisions for the factory crankcase vent tube.

Plus, the MXP is easy to install, with no complicated recalibration required: just bolt it on and go! Be sure to check your specific vehicle application to determine legal status for use where you live.

Features

  • Black dry-synthetic premium air filter.
  • Superior horsepower and acceleration gains.
  • Replaces stock intake tubing, air filter, and air box.
  • Filter is protected from hot engine bay air.
  • Easy to install using commonly available tools.
  • High-airflow washable and reusable air filter media.
  • Warranty: AIRAID No Hassle Lifetime.

AIRAID (510-309): MXP Air Intake System for ’16-’17 Toyota Tacoma

The 510-309 MXP air intake kit from AIRAID for 2016–2017 Toyota Tacoma offers an 8 HP boost at 4,900 rpm (results may vary) and includes a washable and reusable tapered conical universal AIRAID air filter; a one-piece, roto-molded air box; high-density polyethylene tube; integrated velocity stack; and four stainless steel clamps.

The filter itself leverages a multilayer cotton gauze and non-woven synthetic media design for superior filtration. The media is reinforced by both an inner and outer layer of wire mesh to prevent deformity or collapse under high airflow.

The tube benefits from advanced computer modeling to maintain proper mass airflow readings and calibration, while the velocity stack promotes airflow. In fact, AIRAID designed 510-309 specifically to address restrictive factory air flow realities.

Features

  • For 2016–2017 Toyota Tacoma.
  • Replaces stock intake tubing, air filter, and air box.
  • Results in horsepower and acceleration gains.
  • High–air flow washable/reusable air filter media.
  • Aluminum lid shields the filter from hot engine bay.
  • Tuned velocity stacks enhance air flow and mass air sensor functionality.
  • No-Hassle Lifetime Warranty.

To Oil or Not to Oil: (That’s Not Really the Question)

John M. Arnaud

Over the years, the air-filter experts at K&N have proven (in their in-house filtration test lab, no less) that the secret to increasing airflow to your engine without sacrificing protection lies in their exclusive air filter oil. This oil, which permeates a filter’s cotton fibers, grabs dust and other microscopic contaminants and keeps them from entering your system. Non-oiled paper filters don’t even come close.

So the question isn’t whether you should be using an oiled filter (you should); instead, you should be asking “How much should I use?” and “How do I apply it?” The answers to those questions depend on which delivery system you use: squeeze bottle or aerosol applicator. Read on for the scoop from K&N:

Squeeze Bottle

Apply the air filter oil evenly along the crown of each pleat, then allow the oil to wick for 20 minutes before touching up any light areas on either side of the filter.

Aerosol Bottle

Spray the oil evenly along the crown of each pleat, holding the spray nozzle about 3” away from the filter. Allow the oil to wick for 20 minutes, then touch up any light areas on either side of the filter.

Most K&N air filters are oiled at the factory, so reoiling shouldn’t be necessary until it’s time to clean your filter, usually at 50,000 or 100,000 miles, depending on your application. K&N’s Recharger kits contain everything you need to freshen up your filter, including filter cleaner and your choice of oil dispenser.
